TEAM MEMBERS NEEDED: 4

Geocaching is a high tech treasure-hunting phenomenon!! One of the fastest growing activities, Wild Canyon Games geocache competitors will search for hidden caches over 160 square miles of wilderness...Teams can choose to hunt as a group of four or as two groups of two. Each team, armed with a GPS hand held device and cache coordinates, will embark on a 4 hour hunt across incredible terrain. Remember that each team of two will need a GPS hand held device.

So, how many caches are there anyway? Oh, just 350! The caches (treasures) vary in value based upon location.. When you find and open a cache, first record your bib number and date on the pad inside. Next, record the code name written on the inside of the cache lid on your team score sheet. Finally, place the cache exactly where you found it and continue your hunt for the next one.

Don't underestimate the importance of strategy in this one. Have a game plan. You only have four hours; finishing even one second late will cost you serious cache value. The four-person team with the highest combined cache value earns 1,000 points towards winning Wild Horse Games. Each team that places behind first is incrementally reduced by 15 points. For example, second place gets 985 points, third place 970 points, and so forth. This event incorporates your ability to navigate in a wilderness environment, strategize and execute your plan within a given time frame, and find as many valuable caches as possible. Are you up to the challenge?

Wild Canyon Games has teamed up with some experienced and incredibly talented geocachers from around the northwest... if you can find some of our more challenging caches hidden by FRACTAL and SOUP Man then your team can earn extra points.

Stay tuned for information about other VIP caches hidden at Wild Canyon Games...

Where Do I Get a GPS?
The place to find your GPS device is REI. The brand we recommend is Garmin, there are several units that would be good to choose for different reasons. The devices are as follows: Garmin GPSMAP60CSx; Garmin GPSMAP 76CSx. There are other units that would do the job, we recommend contacting REI and speaking with an associate regarding the specific questions you may have regarding the sport of geocaching.
